Our Story

Built from personal experience.
Designed to protect everyone.

Two moments that changed everything

These aren't hypothetical scenarios. They happened to our founder's family.

01

"My father was hospitalized"

My father was already on blood pressure medication when he was admitted to the hospital. The new medication they prescribed had a documented interaction with his existing prescription—a conflict that could have been caught with a simple cross-reference.

The doctors and pharmacists were excellent. But the systems they rely on don't always connect the dots between what patients are already taking and what they're about to be given. That gap nearly cost my father his health.

02

"Then it happened to me"

When I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic, my doctor prescribed a medication to help manage my blood sugar. What neither of us realized: I was already taking a supplement that could interfere with how my body processed that medication.

I'm a technologist. I research things. But even I missed it—because this information isn't easy to find, isn't centralized, and isn't built into the systems we trust with our health.

"If this could happen to my family—with access to good healthcare, in one of the best medical ecosystems in the world—how many millions of people are facing the same blind spot every single day?"

The Problem

This isn't rare. It's an epidemic hiding in plain sight.

The information exists. It's scattered across medical journals, FDA databases, and clinical studies. We're building the system that brings it all together.

Hidden Dangers

The interactions most people don't see coming

These aren't edge cases. They're everyday scenarios that affect millions.

Pregnancy Risk

Vitamin A Excess in Pregnancy

A woman takes a prenatal multivitamin. She also takes a separate vitamin A supplement, eats fortified cereals, and occasionally has liver for iron. Without realizing it, she exceeds 10,000 IU of vitamin A daily.

The hidden risk: Research shows women consuming >10,000 IU of preformed vitamin A during pregnancy have a 1 in 57 chance of birth defects affecting the head, heart, brain, or spinal cord.

Blood Sugar Risk

"Sugar-Free" Gummies & Diabetes

A diabetic chooses "sugar-free" vitamin gummies, thinking they're safe. The label lists maltodextrin as a main ingredient—a filler that sounds harmless.

The hidden risk: Maltodextrin has a glycemic index of 110—higher than table sugar (65). These "sugar-free" supplements can spike blood glucose faster than candy.

PharmaGuide is designed to catch these scenarios—personalizing analysis based on your health profile, conditions, and what you're actually taking.

Our Approach

Built on clinical data.
Powered by AI.

We're not guessing. PharmaGuide integrates with authoritative medical databases and applies machine learning to surface interactions that traditional systems miss.

NIH DSLD Integration

Direct access to the NIH's Dietary Supplement Label Database—178,000+ supplement labels with complete ingredient data, claims, and manufacturer information.

PubMed & Clinical Literature

Continuously updated from peer-reviewed medical research, FDA advisories, and clinical trial data. We surface what the studies show—not marketing claims.

Human Verification Layer

AI flags potential issues. Our network of pharmacists and doctors in Boston/Cambridge verify critical interactions before they reach you. Technology + expertise.

Multi-Modal Recognition

Scan barcodes, read labels with OCR, or type product names. We match against our database in under a second—online or offline.

Privacy-first architecture: Your health data never leaves your device
